Apps that make student life easier
Abhinav
In such
growing world where one needs everything done easily and instantly, technology
has helped us all the way around. And as we all know very well that, “necessity
is the mother of invention”, so with the help of technology a man has come up
with a new feature known as ‘App’. The word ’App’ is an abbreviation for ‘Applications’.
Talking
about ‘apps’, what exactly are they?
Apps are
basically software that can run with or without the help of internet (depending
upon how it’s been programmed) on our computer, phone, tablet, etc)
Now, being a
student, I would like to talk about some really awesome apps that have made our
job much easier and helped us to take some peaceful breath in such rat race
society of so-called education system.
CamScanner:
The reason I
would like to put this app in the very
first place is that this has literally saved
me every minute before the deadline of my D.A.
This app is
a mobile scanner which scans all your notes, receipts, documents, certificates,
etc. Other than that it also extracts texts from image, share PDF/JPEG file, helps in advance editing, and the most
important that it secures your important document.
Quora:
Quora is a
question&answer platform that helps people to share and grow the world’s
knowledge. People here, ask questions about any subject, read about the topics
of their personal interest, and share their knowledge with others. Talking
about my personal experience, this app has really helped me a lot in clearing
my doubts in a certain subject.
SHAREit:
This is one
app which really has made life way easier. Sharing anything is no big deal now, all because of this amazing app. It
helps the user to share files without any
mobile data. It is much much faster than Bluetooth. We can share photos, videos
and files of any formats with our friend at any time on our phone or even
computer.
Wordweb:
A very basic need of every
student is a dictionary, which they need at one point or the other. But then why
to carry a whole book when you can just have it on
your cell phones. Not only that, you don’t have to go through pages and
pages to search just one word, but instead, it can be done with the help of
search function programmed in it. Other than that it also has some amazing
features like spelling suggestion, definitions, synonyms. An offline audio
version is also available in it which makes it even cooler to use.
Inshorts:
Having such
hectic life makes it difficult for a student to keep up with the ongoing
changes in the world, worry not, there’s an amazing app to solve your problem. Inshorts is a NEWS app that selects latest and
best news from multiple national and international sources and summarizes them to present in short and crisp
60 words. It is available in both, English and Hindi. All summarised stories
contain only headlines and fact about it, no opinions, to help us stay informed
about the current affairs.
Sololearn:
Being a
computer science engineer, It is expected from me that I will be knowing basic
languages(which I really don’t), so to overcome this problem, we have an app
called as Sololearn which gives access to 12 programming languages including
Python, HTML, CSS, Javascript, C++, Java, PHP, Ruby, JQuery, C#, Swift. What
else would someone want.
BHIM:
As our
beloved Prime minister, Mr. Narendra
Modi said,”Go cashless”.
How could we
possibly deny his orders? so we got an app, ‘BHIM’(Bharat Interface for Money). It is an initiative to enable fast, secure,
reliable cashless payments through mobile
phones. BHIM is interoperable with other Unified Payment Interface(UPI)
applications, & bank accounts for
quick money transfer online.
LinkedIn:
Young souls
turning entrepreneur, need a social platform to learn and connect with the
professional world out there. LinkedIn is one such app which makes it easier to
discover, connect and nurture relationships with people that matter, search and
apply for jobs, and get updates on topics
and companies. This online social network is a great place to connect and stay
in touch with our professional relationships.
Music Apps:
Imagine a
life without music!!!
OK, STOP.
It’s soo hard to even imagine such life.
Here, I
haven’t specified any particular name because there are quite a few good music
apps (and all have their pros and pawns).
Some of them
being Wynk, Saavn, Gaana, etc…etc.
No matter
which one, but must have for everyone!
VitGo:
Last but not
the least, and this one is particularly referred to my college VIT University. As we all know how messed
up is the VIT site (vtopbeta), so students
came up with this amazing app with the name as,’VitGo’, which fetches all the
important data of a student, once they have logged in, like their attendance, timetable, DAs, exam schedule, course page and
information of your proctor as well. It all helps you to search some basic
information about faculties here in VIT.
The list
goes on and on but I would like to stop here.
Just that,
many more new such apps are yet to come.
