How To Target Your Niche Audience

Successful
campaigning is all about reaching your audience. If people don’t know of your
brand, people won’t invest in it. Your business won’t grow and the whole idea
will come crashing down before it even started.
However, one cannot
simply go forth and tell every person and his mother about one’s product/
service. That would be a complete waste of one’s time as there are several
people who have no use for the product at all. It is far more efficient to tell
people who might need and use your product about it. For example, if you were
to sell gaming laptops, you cannot approach people above the age of 60 to buy
them. They simply have no use for them. If you want to sell a new shade/flavour
of lipstick, you cannot expect a lot of men to buy them. Therefore, it is not
smart to distribute all your resources equally amongst people. It is important
to have a target audience.
Identifying the Target Audience
How can you find your
target audience? It’s simple: Ask yourself what problem your product is solving
or what part of life does it make easier. Think about whose lives will be
bettered by that change. The people whose lives become easier thanks to your
product are your target audience. You can classify your audience on the basis
of age, gender, geographic location, occupation, etc.
On Facebook
Most marketing these
days is done through digital media. Luckily, social networking sites have
several tools that help market your product and help word reach the right
audience. Facebook, for example, lets you decide whom you want to view the
post. Facebook will then proceed to actively reach out to people within the
specified demographic.
Keep with it
It is also a very
wise thing to advertise/ post content that has some local relevance. You can
post in their language, use current affairs, pop culture references and such to
gain traction at lower levels. This takes slightly more effort, but is also
very rewarding and your numbers will grow much higher.
What Motivates them, Motivates you
Inspirational quotes
and pictures are another important tool to gain traction. A lot of people like
reading such content. Associating your brand with it will certainly help gain
recognition. More importantly, it is an important step towards branding. Images
are much easier to remember and digest than text and people will begin to
associate these images with your brand. Thus, you have subtly imprinted
yourself in their minds and simultaneously given your brand a character.
Take a Stance
One of the coolest
things for a brand to do is take a stance on social matters and stand by its
customer base. Nothing can score you points quite like letting your customers
know that they and their opinions matter by declaring your solidarity with
them.
You can also do
something special to mark days relevant to your brand product. It provides an
opportunity to market yourself in clever and unique ways. If done right, your
brand could be permanently associated with a day or holiday.
Write and the World Reads
An article is a
powerful tool that is often overlooked. Reading, promoting and even writing
your own articles adds character to your brand. It is this character that your
niche audience will like. Sharing articles and writing them also exhibits your
brand’s intellectual capabilities, which is vital to grabbing the attention of
intellectuals. This is a very important exercise if your target audience
comprises of people who specialize in fields of study or work with people who
are.
